Over the past 10 years, the number of Schedule 2 employers has decreased by 9 per cent while the percentage of Ontario’s workforce covered for these employers has been fairly consistent at 10 per cent.

Illness claims, unlike injuries, have continued to increase overall in the last 10 years including the number of claims resulting from occupational noise induced hearing loss (NIHL).

Comparing 2016 with 2015, WSIB covered employment and registered claims increased, while the percentage of workforce covered and the number of employers stayed the same. Although registered claims increased slightly in 2016, they remain at one of their lowest points over the past decade.
