Non-economic loss benefit payments

Non-economic loss benefits are based on age and the severity of the permanent impairment. They are awarded to recognize that beyond a wage loss, an injured employee has also suffered a physical, functional, or psychological loss. Non-economic loss benefits are calculated as a percentage of whole body impairment.

The yearly total of allowed claims receiving a non-economic loss benefit has increased by seven per cent since 2013.
