2017 allowed lost-time claims by leading occupations
Ontario’s workforce is diverse and made up of more than 155 occupations. Over the past 10 years for Schedule 2, secondary and elementary school teachers and counsellors, police officers and firefighters as well as childcare and home support workers have been the three occupations with the highest number of allowed lost-time claims.
In 2017, people between the ages of 50 and 54 years represented the leading age group for three of the seven leading occupations. The leading occupation for females was secondary and elementary school teachers and counsellors, whereas police officers and firefighters were the leading occupation for males. In all cases the leading nature of injury was sprains and strains.
