To calculate the lost-time injury rate, we look at the number of allowed lost-time claims and the total number of employees to show the number of lost-time claims per 100 employees.

Since 2008, the lost-time and no-lost-time injury rates have both declined by about 20 per cent and 25 per cent respectively, while the number of people covered by the WSIB has increased by about 15 per cent.

Comparing 2017 to 2016, both the number of allowed lost-time claims and no-lost-time claims have increased while the lost-time injury rate increased by four per cent and the no-lost-time injury rate decreased by one per cent.
